Workshop
Title: ‘micro - meat - mchn - team – macro’In this workshop, participants will build simple microphones and speakers from scratch, then attach them to their bodies with clothing or discarded materials. Each person will imagine becoming a daily life machine with one specific function, e.g., an arm rotating like a coffee grinder, a body ticking evenly like a clock, or a human structure transforming into a chair or table, etc,.
No technical experience is required. Come ready to experiment, move, listen, collaborate, and enjoy becoming part of a human-machine sound generator. |o∵|o |┘∵|┘ c(C(((Cc(cCosts: 10 EUR

Nai-Syuan Ye(葉乃瑄), as known as cherrythehuman,
is an interdisciplinary artist and designer works primarily in research-based projects through mediums like web, writing, experinmental publication, machines and installation. Her work combines sentimental and humorous elements, blurring the lines between designer and spectator. With a background shaped by limited political and visual freedom, Nai-Syuan navigates identity challenges with a quirky perspective, focusing on information sharing, privacy, post-colonisation, and the relations between humans, countries, and technology. Her current projects use obsolete telecommunication to address policy and disciplinary issues. She founded DuctTape Collective and Frankly Collective.

Through sound actions, circuit board, handmade raw installation, and free improvisation, she enjoys having conversations with loudspeakers, pots, fans, toothbrush, and whatever happens to resonate nearby—mainly as an excuse to avoid using conventional musical instruments. Meet-Up 33 – Fetishism in Sound (English below)
Zondag 12 april 2026.
Aanvang programma: 13:00 uur. - Het duurt tot ongeveer 16:00 uur.
Locatie: Landgoed De Hangar: te bereiken via de culturele Buitenplaats, Koningsweg 23a Arnhem.
Volg de blauwe paaltjes vanaf het parkeerterrein. (Kom het liefst te fiets of met openbaar vervoer!)
Gratis toegang.Maak op een speciale manier kennis met het bijzondere Landgoed de Hangar!
Op Landgoed De Hangar staat een door de Duitsers in de Tweede Wereldoorlog gebouwde vliegtuighangar die vermomd is als boerenschuur.
Door te luisteren en door te werken met de geluiden van deze plek ontdekken we diepere lagen van deze omgeving. Ook letterlijk, want we gaan ook de geluiden van het bodemleven onderzoeken met behulp van special microfoons.
Het programma zal bestaan uit een bezoek aan de Hangar, een wandeling door de omgeving en een uitvoering door de aanwezigen aan het Smartphone Orkest:
Deelnemers aan de Meet-Up worden orkestleden, de smartphones van de deelnemers worden instrumenten.
Een verzameling geluidslagen is ondergebracht in een Bandcampalbum waarmee de deelnemers gaan werken:
Aan de hand van aanwijzingen worden mogelijkheden van samenspel, compositie en improvisatie onderzocht.
Muzikale scholing is niet nodig om deel te nemen.Over Landgoed De Hangar:

Over Fetishism in Sound:
Wij zijn Arnhems geluidskunstcollectief. Vanaf april 2023 organiseren we maandelijks bijeenkomsten waarin het verschijnsel geluid op uiteenlopende manieren worden behandeld, vaak interactief. Meet-Up 33 – Fetishism in Sound
Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Program starts at 1:00 PM. - It lasts until approximately 4:00 PM.
Location: Landgoed De Hangar: accessible via the ‘Buitenplaats’, Koningsweg 23a Arnhem.
Follow the blue posts from the parking lot. (Preferably come by bicycle or public transport!)

On Landgoed De Hangar there is an aircraft hangar disguised as a barn.
It is built by the Germans during World War II.
By listening and through working with the sounds of this place, we discover deeper layers of this environment. Literally, too, as we will also investigate the sounds of soil life using special microphones. The program will consist of a visit to the Hangar, a walk through the surrounding area, and a performance by the visitors/participants of the Smartphone Orchestra:
Participants in the Meet-Up become orchestra members, and the participants' smartphones become instruments.
A collection of sound layers has been uploaded to a Bandcamp album with which the participants will work:
Based on instructions, possibilities for ensemble playing, composition, and improvisation will be explored.
Musical training is not required to participate.

We are investigating whether, and in what way, seemingly opposing interests – culture, nature, landscape, and heritage – can be united by the arts, through learning by doing.”
About Fetishism in Sound:
We are an Arnhem-based sound art collective. Starting in April 2023, we organize monthly gatherings in which the phenomenon of sound is explored in various ways, often interactively. There are lectures, workshops, group activities, opportunities to experiment, performances, exchange of sounds, information, and knowledge.
